Villages Added in BTR District as per BTR Accord 2020: The Assam Governor has notified a significant administrative change, transferring 19 villages from Biswanath and Sonitpur districts to the Udalguri district, which falls under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
The Assam Government has made substantial progress in expanding the BTR, with 60 villages now part of this autonomous region, aiming to promote inclusive growth, cultural preservation, and efficient governance.

What is Bodoland Peace Accord 2020
Bodoland new peace agreement was signed on 27 January 2020 between the Government of India and the Government of Assam on one side and the National Democratic Front of Bodoland, (NDFB) the All Bodo Students’ Union and United Bodo People’s Organisation on the other. Under the terms of this agreement, a Bodoland Territorial Region was formed with enhanced executive and legislative powers.
According to Bodoland Peace Acord 2020, BTAD has been renamed as the Bodoland Territorial Region. The agreement says that more legislative, executive and administrative autonomy under the Sixth Schedule to Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and expansion of
the BTC territory.

As per the Cabinet meeting held on 12 Sept 2023 led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, it has been declared the approval for the inclusions of 41 villages from Biswanath district to Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
