What is UPSC IES/ISS Exam ?
The UPSC IES/ISS Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission to recruit candidates for specialized roles in the Indian Economic Service Exam (IES) and Indian Statistical Service Exam(ISS). These exams are intended to select highly qualified individuals for government positions in economic and statistical analysis.

UPSC IES ISS Exam Date 2025
The UPSC will conduct the IES examination & ISS examination on 20 June 2025 .The candidates will be selected based on their performances in written test and an interview conducted by the SSB. The exam duration of IES ISS is 3 days.

Eligibility For UPSC IES /ISS Exam
The Indian economy service and Indian statistic service recruitment 2025 has specific eligibility criteria based on nationality, age, educational qualifications.
NATIONALITY
A candidate must be either :—
- A citizen of India; or
- A subject of Nepal; or
- A subject of Bhutan; or
- A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India; or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East, African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India
AGE LIMIT
The candidate must be of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2025, which means he must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1993 and not later than 1st August, 2004.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
For IES: Candidates must hold a Postgraduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/Econometrics from a recognized university.
For ISS: Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subjects or a Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics.
UPSC IES and ISS Exam Selection Process
The UPSC conduct the two stages of the exam or the selection process. The two stages of the exam are the written exam and Interviews.
- The first stage is the written exam is conducted carrying a maximum of 1000 marks.
- The second stage of the selection process is an interview, where the SSB will ask specific questions.
