Biography of New DC of Kokrajhar, Masanda Magdalin Pertin, IAS

Masanda magdalin pertin was brought and bought up in Arunachal Pradesh. Her father, Sri Muk Pertin is a Senior Advocate and her mother, Milonti Pertin is a teacher. She studied her primary school from Siang Model School Pasighat, her Secondary School from VKV Tafragam, and her Higher Secondary from VKV Nirjuli. She completed her graduation from Guwahati University. She did Master of Philosophy in Post Graduation and PhD Scholar from JNU, New Delhi. She was only 27 years when she cracked UPSC civil service examination and secured 443 rank.

Role of District Commissioner in a State

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) plays a important role in collecting land revenue and various government taxes, fees, and other dues, including arrears of land revenue. As the Chief Revenue Officer and District Collector, the DC is responsible for:

• Ensuring accurate and up-to-date land records
• Overseeing revenue collection and other government dues
• Responding to natural calamities such as droughts, unseasonal rains, hailstorms, floods, and fires.
