The Assam Legislative Assembly has 126 members who serve for five years each. In the Bodoland Territorial Region, there are 11 MLAs from four districts, with six reserved for ST (Scheduled Tribes).

Among these 11 MLAs, Biswajit Daimary is the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, and Urkhao Gwra Brahma is a cabinet minister.

Next MLA Election 2026: The 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly elections, scheduled for March to April 2026, are crucial due to recent changes in the region.

With the delimitation process, the number of Assembly Constituencies has risen from 11 to 15, and a new district, Tamulpur (formerly part of Baksa district), has been established within the BTR region.

The BTR in Assam now comprises five districts: Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Tamulpur, and Udalguri.
