Sainik School Goalpara, the first Sainik School in Assam, was established on November 12, 1964. New Sainik Schools in Assam – 5 (Proposed)
Sainik School Goalpara, established in 1964, is currently the only Sainik School in Assam. The Government of Assam has formally requested Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to establish five new Sainik Schools in the state. These proposed schools are to be located in Golaghat, Cachar, Dhemaji, Karbi Anglong, and Kokrajhar, aiming to expand access to quality education and military-oriented training across Assam.
