List of BTC Constituency: The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) consists of 40 constituencies across four districts in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Each constituency elects one Member of Council Legislative Assembly (MCLA) to represent them in the BTC council. Additionally, the Government of Assam has the authority to appoint 6 MCLAs to the BTR Government, making the total number of MCLAs to 46.
BTR District List And Their Constituencies
Following the recent addition of the Tamulpur district to the BTR region, there are discussions about increasing the number of Bodoland constituencies to 60 for the upcoming BTC election 2025.
However, it remains uncertain whether there will be an increase in the constituency of BTR or a shift of some constituency to Tamulpur, considering that Tamulpur was previously a part of Baksa district.

BTC Constituencies Kokrajhar District
Kokrajhar Constituencies: The Kokrajhar district has the highest number of BTC constituencies, with a total of 12 constituencies for the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly election (BTCLA election). Out of these, 9 MCLA seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST), 2 for Non-ST, and 1 for the Open category.

Chirang Constituencies: The Chirang district has the lowest number of BTC constituencies, with a total of 7 constituencies for the BTCLA election. Out of these, 6 MCLA seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST) and 1 for the Open category.

BTC Constituencies Tamulpur District
In 2021, the proposal to upgrade Tamulpur to a full-fledged district was approved by Assam Government, but it wasn’t officially implemented until 23 January 2022.
Later, on 30 December 2022, the Assam Government remerge Tamulpur district with Baksa district, leading to discontinuation from 1 January 2023 in preparation of the state’s delimitation process.
However, on 25 August 2023, the Government declared the recreation of the district, which will cover the Tamulpur and Goreswar Assembly seats from Baksa Districy.
BTC Election 2020
In the 2020 BTC Election, the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) party with the support from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP), won and formed the Government in BTR.
In this election, 40 constituencies in BTR got new MCLAs each, while the Assam governor appointed 6 MCLAs, making it 46 in total. Among these 46 MCLAs, several members are designated as Executive Members of BTR as well.
