Thaneswar Boro, the former Assam Education and Revenue Minister, passed away on May 17, 2024, at the age of 85 in Guwahati due to heart issues. He had been undergoing treatment in the ICU at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for the past few days.
Shri Thaneswar Boro also held positions such as the former president of the Asom Gono Porisad (AGP) party, vice-president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and a three-time MLA from the Rangia Assembly constituency.
In 1996, Boro was Cabinet Minister of Higher Education from Rangiya constituency, representing Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) during the Ministry of Prafulla Kumar Mahantan.
