CIT Kokrajhar: Established on 19 December 2006, as a deemed university under the BTC agreement of 2003, Central Institute of Technology Kokrajhar (CITK or CIT Kokrajhar) is the only institution providing engineering education in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Apart from CIT Kokrajhar, another engineering college in the BTR is Bineswar Brahma Engineering College (BBEC), making a total of two engineering colleges in the area. However, this article talk about Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar.

About Central Institute of Technology Kokrajhar

The Central Institute of Technology (CIT) is located in Kokrajhar District, Assam, near Bodoland University. It was established on 19 December, 2006 following the memorandum of Settlement on Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) signed between the Assam Government, the Union Government and the Bodo Liberation Tigers on 10 February 2003. CITK is a centrally funded institute under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It operates independently under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, with a Board of Governors overseeing its functions.

CIT offers programs in Information Technology, Bio-Technology, Food Processing, Rural Industries, Business Management, and other areas, aiming to support the socio-economic growth of the region. The institute plays an important role in the cultural, educational, and economic development of the Bodo people by providing technological and vocational training to Bodo youth. This helps preserve their cultural identity, and facilitates their integration into mainstream education and employment in technical fields.

The first batch of students was admitted to the Diploma Module at CIT in 2006. Currently, CIT offers Diploma courses in
