The Assam Pension Scheme for Journalists is currently accepting offline applications from retired journalists who are permanent residents of Assam.
Under this scheme, the retired journalists who served in Assam for at least 20 years will receive a pension amount of Rs. 8000 per month from the Government of Assam. Preference will be given to those who were issued Recognition/Accreditation Cards by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Government of Assam.

The advertisement states that retired journalists are invited to apply for the “Assam Pension Scheme for Journalists” for the year 2024-25.
Applications must be submitted in a offline mode to the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assam, by 20 July 2024. It is to be noted that applications received after the last date will not be considered.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be 60 years or older and retired as a journalist, photo journalist, correspondent, or camera person (news) under the Working Journalist Act, 1955.
- Must be a resident of Assam and have worked as a journalist in Assam for at least 20 years before retirement.
- The applicant should not be receiving any other pension except under the Employees Provident Fund.
- Proprietor, Proprietor-cum-Editor, Manager-cum-Editor, Government servants or those whose job nature is not related to working journalism are not eligible for this journalist pension.
How to apply?
To apply for Assam Pension Scheme for Journalists 2024, eligible retired journalist will have to collect the application form from the DIPR (Directorate of Information And Public Relations) Assam website.
They must submit their application in the prescribed format along with all required documents by 20 July 2024. Applicants should be sent offline to the DIPR, Assam.
