Assam Orunodoi 2024 Update: The Government of Assam launched Orunodoi 3.0 on 19 September 2024. It is an upgraded version of the flagship Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme, with the aim of providing financial assistance to economically weak households.
The primary objective of the Orunodoi initiative is to uplift marginalized sections of society, including women, the elderly, and differently-abled persons, by directly transferring funds to their bank accounts.
In the new Orunodoi 3.0 beneficiary list, a total 37.2 lakh women will get the monetary benefit.

What is Orunodoi 3.0 2024 Scheme
Arunodoi scheme 2024: Assam Chief Minister launches Oruodoi 3.0, a scheme offering financial empowerment to women, providing a monthly assistance of Rs. 1,250 directly into their bank accounts.
Orunodoi 3.0 focuses on economically disadvantages families, particularly from rural areas. The scheme identifies households based on socio-economic criteria and emphasizes those who require financial relief due to health, educational, or livelihood challenges.
The Orunodoi 3.0 scheme’s unique feature is that the benefit is transferred in the name of a woman in the family, empowering them financially and promoting gender equality.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has twitted on X platform that “Financial assistance is provided for the economically backward household of Assam, From ₹830 to 19 lakh beneficiaries in 2020, to ₹1250 to 37 lakh beneficiaries in 2024, The Assam Government is extremely satisfied with the way Orunodoi has evolved in this 4 years.”
Benefit of Orunodoi 3.0
Under Orunodoi 3.0, eligible beneficiaries will receive a monthly financially aid of Rs. 1250. The amount is directly credited to the beneficiary’s bank account to ensure transparency and avoid middlemen.
The money provided through the Orunodoi 3.0 Scheme is meant to help with various household expenses:

Eligibility Criteria for Orunodoi 3.0
- The applicant should be the permanent resident o Assam
- The annual income should not be less than 2 Lakh
- The applicant should be female and 18 +
- Widows, divorced women, and differently-abled individuals will get priority.
- If anyone in your family member is a government employee or retired government officer or have a four wheeler car, is not eligible for applying the Scheme.
Who can Apply Orunodoi 3.0?
- Widow, unmarried (above the age of 45 yrs), divorced and deserted women.
- Transgender.
- Person with disability as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, irrespective of gender.
- Old/Infirm women including those residing in Government registered old age home.
- Women of the Household, where earning members are either disabled or aged (more than 60 years of age).
- Women in the household, where any member is suffering from HIV/ Thalassemia/ Hemophilia/ Cerebral Palsy/ Leprosy/ Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Women in household without shelter.
- Destitute women living on alms.
- Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) women beneficiaries.
- Women in the household where composite income is less than Rs. 2 lacs per annum.
