Since 2021, six individuals from the Bodo community have received the Assam Gaurav Awards, which is the third highest civilian honors in Assam. The award is given out between January to March.

About Assam Civilian Awards
The Assam Civilian Awards, introduced in 2021, are conferred annually by the Government of Assam to recognize outstanding contributions by individuals in various fields for the public benefit. There are three categories of Assam Civilian Awards:
- Assam Baibhav: The highest Assam Civilian Award is conferred upon one individual. It includes a citation, certificate, medal, and a monetary sum of Rs. 5 lakh.
- Assam Saurav: The second highest Civilian Award is conferred upon 1, 3 and 15 individuals respectively. It includes a citation, certificate, medal, and a monetary sum of Rs. 4 lakh.
- Assam Gaurav: The third highest Civilian Award is conferred upon 1, 3 and 15 individuals respectively. It includes a citation, certificate, medal, and a monetary sum of Rs. 3 lakh.
However, the number of awards in each category may vary evey year as per the decision of the Award Committee.
Assam Civilian Awards Facilities For Recipients
The awardees also receive the following benefits:
- Free Medical Treatment in Government hospitals and stay in paying cabins, wherever available.
- They will be provided free accomodation in State Government Circuit Houses, Guest Houses and Assam Bhawans.
- They will be regular invitees for all the official functions as distinguised guests.
- The Government of Assam will provide up to Rs. 2 lakh for medical expenses towards their treatment of critical diseases.
- Over and above the provision for award money and certain facilities to recepients, free travel will also be permitted to awardees in ASTC buses, provided they give a 24 hour prior information of the proposed journey.
