Assam Cabinet Meeting 3 July 2024: In the recent Assam Cabinet Meeting led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, several significant decisions were made to assist youths from the ST/SC communities, including waiving exam fees for competitive exams and providing high-quality services for patients suffering from kidney ailments.
Details of the Assam Cabinet Decision, 3rd July
The following are the key Cabinet decisions highlighted in the recent meeting.
1. Encouraging Aspirants from SC/ST Communities
To boost the participation of SC/ST community youths in competitive exams, the Cabinet has approved the proposal to exempt examination fees for SC/ST students applying for government posts under the Govt. of Assam in the recent Cabinet meeting decision. This initiative aims to motivate more SC/ST students to pursue these opportunities.
2. Ensuring Affordable and Quality Care for Kidney Patients
To offer affordable and high-quality dialysis services to kidney patients,
- The State Cabinet has approved the establishment of 37 new Hemo-Dialysis Centres
- 150 additional Hemo-Dialysis machines in PPP mode with CSR partners.
3. Ensuring World-Class Cancer Care
To ensure high-quality and affordable cancer care for Assam and the region, the State Govt has signed a new tripartite MoU between Tata Education and Development Trusts (TEDT), and Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF).
This MoU replaces the one that expired on Feb 02, 2023, and acknowledges ACCF’s formation. The agreement encompasses 17 hospitals, with 9 currently operational and 8 progressing in locations including Diphu, Dhubri, Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Nagaon, Golaghat, Nalbari, and Goalpara.
The project’s total cost is 3983 crore, with the Govt. of Assam contributing 2803 crore and TEDT contributing 1180 crore, ensuring the continued provision of affordable cancer care.
