Pramod Boro Biography: Born on March 1, 1975, Pramod Boro is an Indian politician who currently serves as the Chief Executive Member of BTR Govt, Assam since 15 December 2020. He is also the president of UPPL – a regional party of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) since February 25, 2020.

Prior to his current positions, he was the president of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) from 2009 to 2020, holding the record for the longest-serving ABSU President.

Pramod Boro Political Career

Role in BTR Govt

After joining the UPPL party, Pramod started his political career by taking part in the BTC Election 2020. In the last 2020 BTC Election, he contested for the MCLA from two constituencies, namely Goibari and Koklabari. He won from both the constituencies. Post the BTC Election 2020 result, the UPPL made a coalition government in BTR by joining hands with the National Party – BJP and Regional Party – GSP.

He now serves as the Chief Executive Member of Bodoland Territorial Council Government since 15 December 2020.

Role in UPPL

Pramod Boro left ABSU and joined the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), a regional political party of the BTR area on 21 February 2020, during the Fourth Annual Convention of in Bijni, Chirang District of BTR, Assam. After joining the party, he was made the President of the UPPL, succeeding the Founder and President of UPPL – Urkhao Gwra Brahma.

United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) was founded on August 5, 2015, by different Bodoland Movement organizations, led by Urkhao Gwra Brahma as the Founder President.

Role in Bodoland Movement

Pramod has been active in social and political movements in Assam since his school days, mainly through involvement with the Bodo Student’s Union. He played a key role in the movement for the separation of Bodoland as a state, which started in 1987 under the leadership of Late Upendra Nath Brahma.

Role in ABSU

He held various positions in ABSU, starting as Assistant General Secretary and Vice President, and eventually assuming the role of President in 2009. He served as President until February 2020, making him the longest-serving President of ABSU.

Pramod Boro was born on March 1, 1975, in Tamulpur, Baksa district, Assam. His father, Ghanashyam Boro, was a farmer. Pramod grew up in a family that faced financial difficulties, which made life challenging for him.

Pramod Boro Education

He started attending his early education at the village school for lower primary. Later, he joined Tamulpur HS School for upper primary until Matriculation.

After completing his Higher Secondary education, Boro decided to pursue further studies at Guwahati College. Unfortunately, due to financial problems he had to abandon his college education and find a job to sustain himself.

However, he didn’t give up on his studies and eventually resumed his studies at Rangia College and completed his graduation in 1994.
