Bhasha Samman Award in Bodo: The only recipient of the Bhasha Samman from Boro writers, introduced by Sahitya Akademi in 1996, was Sri Madhu Ram Boro in 2002. However, Bodo authors have also been honored in various other categories of Sahitya Akademi awards, such as Sahitya Akademi Award, Akademi Prize For TranslationBal Sahitya Puraskar, and Yuva Puraskar.

About Bhasha Samman

Sahitya Akademi introduced the Bhasha Samman in 1996 to honor individuals who have contributed to languages through writing, scholarship, editing, collecting, performing, or translating.

Each year, alongside recognizing books and translations in its recognized 24 languages, the Akademi aims to support creativity and research in India’s diverse languages.

The Samman is awarded annually to 3-4 individuals across different languages based on recommendations from expert committees

Bhasha Samman Award Monetary Prize

The Bhasha Samman award consists of a plaque and a cash prize for creative literature, which was Rs.25,000 initially, increased to Rs.40,000 in 2001, Rs.50,000 in 2003, and Rs.1,00,000 from 2009 onwards.
